The 2013 Hugo Awards were presented September 1, 2013 at LoneStarCon 3 in San Antonio, Texas.
We are a little bit behind on these accolades, but we wanted to extend them anyway.
Congratulations to Brandon Sanderson for winning a Hugo for Best Novella for The Emperor’s Soul. If you haven’t yet read it, we strongly encourage you to do so. It’s an excellent story.
Congratulations to Mary Robinette Kowal, Brandon Sanderson, Howard Tayler, and Dan Wells for winning Best Related Work for the seventh season of their 15-minute writing tips podcast, Writing Excuses. This is a great podcast for anyone working on becoming a writer (or improving their skills as a writer), and each episode is short, so it doesn’t eat into your writing time very much. Consider it a brief break to help you refocus.
In addition to the above, Tayler was nominated for Best Graphic Story for Schlock Mercenary: Random Access Memorabilia, Chris Garcia was nominated twice for Best Fanzine for his work on The Drink Tank (edited with James Bacon) and Journey Planet (edited with James Bacon, Emma J. King, Helen J. Montgomery, and Pete Young). Garcia was also nominated for Best Fan Writer.
