Westercon 79 (2027) Site Selection Voting Open

Voting is now open for selecting the site of the 79th West Coast Science Fantasy Conference (Westercon 2027). The ballot is available on the Westercon website at http://www.westercon.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/Westercon-Site-Selection-Ballot-for-Westercon-79.pdf. You can vote in multiple ways:

  1. Download the ballot and print it and fill it out, then mail it by paper mail to the address on the ballot (Kayla Allen, PO Box 242, Fernley NV 89408). You can pay by check, money order, or by obtaining a Voting Token from BayCon 2025/Westercon 77 through their website. You can also give your ballot to someone else who can deliver it to the Site Selection desk at BayCon 2025/Westercon 77.
  2. Download and complete the ballot online, purchase a Voting Token from BayCon 2025/Westercon 75, save the PDF, and email it to the address on the ballot.
  3. Vote in person at the Site Selection desk at BayCon 2025/Westercon 77. Voting will be open on Friday, July 4 (1 PM to 6 PM PDT) and Saturday, July 5 (10 AM to 6 PM PDT). You can pay the Voting Fee in person in cash, by check or money order, or by purchasing a Voting Token at BayCon 2025/Westercon 77 Registration.

If you vote by paper or email, we must receive your ballot by July 1, 2025 to be sure that we will count it. We cannot guarantee that any ballots received after that date will be counted, although all voting fees will be turned over to the winning bid.

You must be a member of BayCon 2025/Westercon 77 and pay the $20 Voting Fee in order to vote in Westercon Site Selection. The voting fee gets you a supporting membership in Westercon 79, regardless of what bid is selected. BayCon 2025 will remit all voting fees to the winning bid. Checks/money orders/cash will be held until after the election, and then turned over to the winning bid.

How to Purchase a Voting Token

To pay the Voting Fee by credit card, you must purchase a Voting Token from BayCon 2025/Westercon 77

  1. Go to the BayCon Registration web page.
  2. If you do not yet have a BayCon/Westercon attending badge and plan to attend, purchase a 2025 Full Weekend (any age) attending badge. (If you are going to attend BayCon 2025/Westercon 77, you may want to instead vote in person at the convention.) If you do not have an attending badge, do not plan to attend BayCon 2025/Westercon 77, and still want to vote, see the instructions below.
  3. On the Select Ticket Category drop-down, select Westercon 77.
  4. If you do not have a BayCon/Westercon attending badge and do not plan to attend, select a Westercon 77 Supporting Membership and purchase a Westercon 77 Supporting Membership. If you already have either an attending badge or supporting membership in BayCon/Westercon, you do not need to do this step.
  5. Choose Westercon 79 Voting Token (Supporting).
  6. Set the quantity to 1. The system will put 1 Voting Token in your cart.
  7. Select Go to Checkout.
  8. Enter your email and the name of the person to whom the Voting Token should be assigned and a telephone number.
  9. Select Next. (You may need to scroll down to see the Next button.)
  10. If you are not attending, select No on the Additional Information screen. Remember that you must have a BayCon/Westercon attending badge or supporting membership, or else we will not count your ballot. There are additional questions here if you want material paper-mailed to you.
  11. On the Terms & Payment Information screen, enter the billing information and accept the terms.
  12. Select Complete Purchase.
  13. On the Ticket Information screen, you will see an 8-character confirmation code. This is your Voting Token that you must enter on your site selection ballot. It will also be in the email you receive confirming your purchase.
